Private Client
Type: Residential
GFA : 1320 sqm
Location: Bromsgrove Borough, UK
This project involves the alteration and extension of a residential property located at Linthrust Road, Bromsgrove, within a designated conservation area. The proposed works are intended to improve the functionality and aesthetics of the property while remaining sensitive to the character and context of the surrounding built environment.
The scope of work includes the demolition of the existing living room roof and its replacement with a raised structure to align with the height of the adjacent roof, enhancing both internal space and external visual continuity. In addition, the existing entrance porch will be removed to accommodate the construction of a three-sided veranda along the left side of the building. This veranda will provide natural shading and create a covered area for household parking, contributing both practical and architectural value to the home.
Internally, the living room will be enhanced with an additional gathering space located directly above it. An ensuite bathroom will be incorporated on the upper floor in a mirrored layout above the ground floor bathroom to maintain efficient plumbing routes.
In keeping with the conservation area’s requirements, the external modifications will be carefully designed to minimize visual disruption. The new living room roof will be finished in a material that matches the existing roof in both colour and type. Similarly, the veranda will be constructed using materials that reflect the existing front porch, maintaining consistency with the building’s architectural language.
Overall, the project is designed to modernize and improve the home’s usability and sustainability while respecting the historical and visual context of the area. Great care will be taken to ensure that all new work integrates seamlessly with the existing structure and contributes positively to the character of the conservation zone.
